DTG (Direct-to-Garment)
DTG prints water-based ink directly onto cotton fibres, producing photographic-quality results without the colour count restrictions of screen printing. Krublanks stocks ringspun cotton styles in the weights and colours DTG handles best.
DTG works best on 100% ringspun cotton in lighter weights (4 to 6 oz). Open-end cotton has a rougher surface that scatters ink and reduces print sharpness. Light and bright colour shirts don't require a white underbase; dark shirts do, which slows production and increases cost per piece.
Pre-treatment is a real factor: garments need a pre-treat coat for dark fabrics, and curing temperatures must be hit precisely. Detailed editorial on per-style DTG suitability, ink coverage, and post-cure handling is in progress.
